Baby Sign
What is Baby Sign?
Baby sign is a communication tool used at an early age, consisting of both spoken words and visual gestures, which brings movement, listening, and observation into play.

Baby sign is not a sign language, rather a method of communication used for hearing babies tailored to their psychomotor skills. Baby Sign helps you and your baby communicate with each other before they are able to speak.

It is a bimodal communication technique, that is, spoken words are used as the basis and then at certain times we introduce a specific sign or gesture.
We never do a sign without saying the word. It's always:

Frequently asked questions
A baby who can communicate their needs to their parents and be understood, is less likely to become frustrated and cry. This is because their parents can respond to their needs faster. The parents can also explain upcoming events to their baby, reducing shocks and surprises.
Reduces baby's frustration
A baby who can both understand and be understood by their parents or caregivers, is likely to have more self-confidence.
As a result of this, they can be more adventurous when exploring and investigating their environment.
Promotes baby's autonomy and confidence
The Baby Sign methodology consists of repeating words along with their signs. The signs allow babies to assimilate the words more easily, even if they cannot speak yet.
The words that they learn through Baby Sign remain internalised in their brains so that when they do start to speak, they already have a broad vocabulary.
Stimulates speech
In the end, Baby Sign is a form of communication that is established between a baby and their parents or carers. Anything that allows you and your baby to communicate with and understand each other better will help make your bond with them that much stronger and more special.
Strengthens the bond between parent and baby
Baby Sign helps babies develop their fine motor skills as they practice copying the signs their parents use until they themselves can use them to communicate.
Babies learn the association between a sign and a word or subsequent action, this stimulates their memory and in the long term their cognitive development.
Encourages psychomotor and intellectual development
If you speak multiple languages at home, Baby Sign can help your baby learn these. Because the sign or gesture that we use is international, being consistent will mean your baby will come to understand that each sign has a specific meaning and that this can be expressed by different words or languages. For example the sign for “milk” in English also is the sign for “leche” in Spanish.
